This course provides the delegate with the theoretical and practical skills to undertake the management of asbestos containing materials within the buildings that they are responsible for, as defined in CAR 2012.The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Regulation 4 covers the duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises. HSG 264 requires an appointed person to assist in the management of asbestos containing materials in buildings. HSG 264, requires the person appointed to be provided with the necessary skills and training for the effective management of asbestos in buildings.

Theory Modules:

  • Regulation 4 CAR2012 – Duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises
  • Asbestos surveying
  • Asbestos survey report
  • Management control options
  • Reviewing and communicating the management plan
  • Work with ACMs that requires a licence and work with ACMs that is notifiable
  • Essentials of correct asbestos removal methods

  • Material risk assessment algorithm
  • Priority risk assessment algorithm
  • Analysis of assessment
  • Developing an asbestos management plan
